QUIZ BLISS | Quiz Facts

The study of geography seeks to understand both the natural earth and the humans inhabiting it, which undoubtedly includes a study of international cultures. In the world today, there are 195 countries. Of these, 193 are members of the United Nations while two are not: the Holy See and the State of Palestine. There are also a few countries which have not been included in this list. One of them is Taiwan, as it is considered to be represented by the People's Republic of China by the United Nations. The others include the Cook Islands and Niue. Of the 195 countries in the world, 54 are located on the continent of Africa, making it the single continent with the most countries on the globe. The next largest continent (in terms of how many countries it contains) is Asia, in which there are no less than 48 countries. Europe comes in at a close third, which encompasses 44 countries. In Latin America and the Caribbean, there are 33 countries. There are only 14 countries in Oceania, and in North America, there are only two: the United States and Canada. The most populous country in the world is the People's Republic of China, with India coming in at a close second and the United States just after that. The least populated country in the world is Holy See. Other highly populated countries include Pakistan, Nigeria and Ethiopia. To find out how much you really know about the countries of the world, take this super speedy test!
